The claims process

Whether it's an auto accident, home damage, or a business loss, these steps help you report quickly and keep the claim moving.

    Make sure everyone is safe

    Call 911 for emergencies. Move to a safe location. Do not put yourself at risk to protect property.

    Document what happened

    Take photos and videos of damage, vehicles, and the scene. Get names, phone numbers, and insurance info from other parties when applicable. Note the date, time, and location.

    Prevent further damage when safe

    For property losses, shut off water or utilities if needed and take reasonable steps to protect the property from more damage. Keep receipts for emergency repairs.

    Report the claim to your carrier

    Call the claims number for your insurance company (listed below) or file online. Have your policy number ready if you have it. You can also call Tan's Agency and we will help guide you.

  5. 5

    Work with the adjuster

    An adjuster will review the loss, ask questions, and explain next steps for repairs, rental cars, or temporary living expenses when covered.

  6. 6

    Keep records and follow up

    Save claim numbers, adjuster contacts, estimates, and receipts. Ask questions if anything is unclear — and reach out to Tan's Agency if you need help navigating the process.
